The last 40 years have been amazing for beer. In 1978, there were just 89 breweries in the U.S.A. Today, there are over 5,000.
The result is much better beer. We’ve all been exposed to amazing new tastes, ranging from double IPAs to espresso porters. Every community has a brewery so you can try these things no matter where you go.
For something new in Kansas City – and not too far from City Place at Westport – head to Cinder Block Brewery.
About Cinder Block Brewery
In many ways, the brewery is a Cinderella story for beer-lovers. It opened in 2013 when homebrewer Bryce Schaffter turned his passion project into a profession.
When you step into the taproom, you’ll find a rotating selection of amazing beers. Everything is unique, from their Cinder Block English Cherry Cider to their Black Squirrel Imperial Stout.
One of the best things about the beer is Cinder Block’s unique barrel program. Everybody’s had a Bourbon-barrel stout or porter, but this is different. Here, brewers choose each barrel specifically because of the spirit stored in it and the type of wood. This enhances the flavor palate of every brew.
What’s There To Do?
The Cinder Block Brewery is filled with fun activities. Whether you want food or recreation, it’s all here.
For a great weekly event, try “Geeks Who Drink” trivia night on Mondays. It’s one of the best games in town and an amazing place to meet new people!
You can also visit the Cinder Block Kitchen for some homemade food. Don’t worry if you want other eats: they often invite some of Kansas City’s best food trucks!
You can also host private events at the brewery in “The Reclamation Room.” The area features entertainment equipment and a beautiful outdoor seating area. When you book, you can also get a private tour of the brewery.
